Ok, so these are my first shot at political cartooning. I guess I will explain this madness.

The first piece depicts good ol' George Dubya hog tying Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia. Bush, (as well as Putin's own people) disagrees with Putin on many political matters. Some of which include:

The Russian's alleged nuclear cooperation with Iran.

The United States government is trying to push Russia into democracy, and we are not sure if Putin wants it.

Putin's reliance on the Kremlin(his advisors) over his own judgement, leaving him blind toward many of his countries concerns.

The fact that Putin has filled the Kremlin and the rest of his government with KGB cronies(Putin is a former KGB officer) rather than competant political officials.

The Second depicts an elephant(the symbol for the Republican Party) high diving into a bucket much to0 small for it. The bucket represents the problems with social security in the US. Social Security is structured as a pay-as-you-go system. That means today's workers pay the benefits for today's retirees. In 1940, there were 42 workers per retiree; today there are three. By 2040 there will be only two. This means higher taxes for future workers.
George Bush's solution to this is to privatize social security. This means that your benefits will depend on your individual financial invesments. This completely undermines the concept of democracy and equality, and provides gifts to the ones who are knowledgable about finance and puts down the common man. We all pay taxes as citizens of the United States of America and we should reap the benefits of these payments equally.

I would love to hear everyone's opinion on these matters, as well as my cartoons. Please feel free to state your piece, whether it is in agreement or utter detest for my opinions.
